So, What's the skinny?

Hi everyone! Well the end of the year is upon us, and I wanted to find out if we are going to continue in the new year? I don't know about you girls, but the last 4-5 weeks have been rough for me and I have fallen off the wagon. In fact, I think the wagon has run me over a couple of times! Anyway... my plan is to crawl out from underneath the wagon, and get going again in January. What about the rest of you? None of us have really been posting much lately, but I'm really hoping that we can all start again fresh in January and continue to be a support to each other. This battle of loosing weight is such a... well a battle. Haha! What makes it just a little more bearable is knowing that your not alone. What do you say girls? Are we going to renew our dedication, desire, and efforts in the new year? Let me know!

Well I did go walking a few times last week, knowing that I would have a free day on Halloween and eat a TON of candy! It was yummy, but I ate too much and it shows. Here we go.. again...

Okay I haven’t posted for a while because I have been doing HORRIBLE! I didn’t want to post how much I’ve gained.. but now you all know J So I gained 4 lbs, which I’m actually okay with because I haven’t gained back ALL that I have lost I’m still down 9 from when I started. I just hate how I feel when I’m not working out or eating healty so I’m gonna give it a try yet again!.. This time it HAS to be for real.. 5 of the girls I work with are doing a contest.. we are going to do it a little at a time so the first increment is 2 months so Dec. 30 is the final day… We had to buy in with a dollar and we have a jar, so if you lose you don’t have to put anything in, if you stay the same you have to put a dollar in and if you gain anything you have to put 2.00$ per pound (ouch!) So we have that going for us and since we have tried contests before and failed, we also are doing another little catch. We all took before pictures and we sealed them up in an envelope. We each have a personal goal.. if we meet the goal we are safe, however if we don’t meet the goal.. the confidential before pictures are going to be passed around. To make sure that there is a follow through we gave the pictures to another person that is not participating. So therefore I HAVE to make it this time because I don’t want my nasty bod being passed around! Anyway enough of a novel.. good job everyone! I’m glad everyone else has been doing so great! Have a good week!

New Goal!!

So I have set a new goal for myself. I have officially lost 16 cupcakes since starting weight watchers. My goal is to loose 24 more cupcakes by Jan 3rd. That only gives me 10 weeks and is a bit of a stretch, but I'm excited and up for the challenge. Thanks to every one for posting on here and being such a support!

Weigh-In #11

Here we are again, another weigh-in. I didn't loose anything this week, which to tell you the truth I'm just glad I didn't gain anything. Last week was my birthday we, so between going out to dinner and having dessert didn't help much. And this week with Halloween doesn't help much either, but I am still going to try! I hope all is going well!

Mindy (9 cupcakes): 0 cupcakes gained/9 to go
Kristi (37 cupcakes): 4 cupcakes gained :(/41 to go
Peggy (8.5 cupcakes): 0 cupcakes gained/8.5 to go

Weigh-In #10

Well I'm glad that I am still losing weight but it's coming off very slowly which isn't that bad, but if I'm only losing 1 cupcake a week it's going to be another 2 months before I meet my goal! That's just too long, I need to start adding some exercise, I just have a hard time getting motivated. Does anyone have any ideas? Or what do you do to get motivated?

Mindy (10 cupcakes): 1 cupcake lost/ 9 to go
Kristi (37 cupcakes):
Peggy (8.5 cupcakes): 0 cupcakes gained/ 8.5 to go
Debbie (19 cupcakes):
Sam (12 cupcakes): 1 cupcake lost/11 to go
Liana (30 cupcakes):

Weigh-in #9

How is everyone doing? Sorry I'm posting late, I kept forgetting. (You girls can post too if I forget)! Well the cold weather is coming along with the holidays. This is always the hardest time of year because I love to have comfort food! I bought some weight watcher soups and most of them are only 1 point, some 0 points! I've only tried one so far, and it's not too bad. I just had 1 piece of wheat bread toasted, a little bit of butter and garlic salt with the soup and it was way good! I hope all is well!

Mindy (11 cupcakes): 1 cupcake lost/10 to go
Kristi (37 cupcakes):
Peggy (10 cupcakes): 1.5 lost/8.5 to go
Debbie (19 cupcakes):
Sam (13 cupcakes): 1 cupcake lost/12 to go

GET RE-MOTIVATED!

I haven't done very good lately, especially with going on a cruise. I ate so much on the cruise, desserts and all and our dinners on the ship were at 8:15! So I was very worried and could tell I had gained some. At least I gained only 2 pounds, I guess it could have been worse. So now we're back and I am ready to get with it again. I'm happy to be home now so I can back to my exercise routine and not have all those tempting breads and desserts tempting me.

For me, it helps to think positive thoughts about eating healthy and visualizing how good it will feel when I get to go out and buy some smaller sized clothing or fit into things I haven't been able to wear for a while. I try to look at high calorie or high fat food as poison and evil and bad for my body. I wish everyone good luck this week! Peggy

Weigh-in #8

Hi Everyone! I'm back from my cruise! I was so scared to weigh myself this morning! I did enjoy myself on the cruise and ate a lot of food (but probably not as much as I normally would have). The food was delicious! I was more active than I normally am and Mexico was HOT! Just standing out in the shade made you sweaty! But I had a blast and I'm glad to be home. So I was surprised and very happy this morning when I weighed myself and only gained 1 cupcake! Now it's time to get back in gear and lose those cupcakes!!

Mindy (10 cupcakes): 1 cupcake gained/11 to go
Kristi (37 cupcakes): 0 cupcakes gained/37 to go
Peggy (8 cupcakes): 2 cupcakes gained/10 to go
Debbie (19 cupcakes):
Sam (13.6 cupcakes): 0.6 of a cupcake lost/13 to go

A bit about me

My name is Liana Sorenson...Mindy is my sister-in-law (our husbands are brothers) and Sam has been my best friend for 20 years! I figured it was time to join when I started this stupid bet with Sam. (No sweet stuff or fast food until Jan. 1. Right before Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas! What was I thinking?) Anyway, I'm sick of feeling fat. I want to be healthy but I want to look good too. My goal right now is to lose 30 cupcakes and fit into single digit pant sizes again. I'm not actually doing weight watchers but I hope having you girls as motivators will keep me working towards my goal.

PS It isn't letting me download a pic, so I will try later. (I got your back Liana! :) Look at that long hair! Love ya, Sam)
(Sorry Sam, I had to change that terrible picture! Nothing against the photographer though, just the subject!)
(
I just wanted to say Way to go Kristi! I know last week you were frustrated, and I see you didn't stop! Congrats on loosing two more lbs! I too struggle getting past the month mark. I have been doing weight watchers at work for 11 weeks, however I really have only been doing it for two weeks. Meaning I have only actually been really trying for two weeks, and if it is paying off. I am going to make it over that month hump this time, and you girls are an inspiration. Thanks! Oh by the way, I found out that the a Medium bowl of Rubmi's Bahama Mama's Tortilla soup is only 3 points. Not bad. It was really tasty too! Try it!

Weigh-In #6

I am so excited! I get to go on a cruise next week!! My first thought was, "I'm not going to weigh-in for the next two weeks". BAD IDEA! I am doing so good, I have lost 9 pounds so far and I do not want to mess this up! I still want to enjoy the food on this cruise, but I am going to try my hardest to be good and be more active so that I can enjoy a little more than I am now. So hopefully I don't gain anything, but my goal is to not gain more than 2 cupcakes if I have to gain anything, but I'm going to try not to. Wish me luck! :) And keep up the good work! If anyone has any helpful hints or more recipes or something that's their favorite, feel free to share!

Mindy (12 cupcakes): 1 cupcake lost/11 to go
Kristi (41 cupcakes): 2 cupcakes lost/39 to go
Peggy (8 cupcakes): 0 cupcakes lost/gain
Debbie (19 cupcakes):
Megan (9 cupcakes):
Sam (18 cupcakes): 5.8 cupcakes lost/14.2 to go

(I am going to try and post weigh-in #7 next week before I leave, but if it's not up by sunday evening, will someone else please do it?! Thanks & I will post weigh-in #8 when I get home on October 5 or 6)

I'm finally ready.....

Ok last but not least, this is Kristi's mom Debbie and I am ready to officially start now. I am slow because we went on a cruise a week ago, but now I am more motivated than ever (thanks to the all night buffet). I have been on and off Weight Watchers since I was about 12 years old. I have tried other weight loss plans over the years, but always go back to WW because it is the only one that you can actually stay on long term. I have lost tons of weight over the years and if I can ever figure out that it is easier to just stay on it after you lose the weight I wouldn't have to start again and again. A couple of years ago I lost 30 lbs. on WW and I have put most of it back on, I feel gross. It feels so much better to be thin(er)! So here it goes again hopefully I will do better at keeping it off this time around. It is so much more fun to go shopping when you are thin, you have more energy, you feel so much healthier and it does wonders for your self-esteem. It helps to read everyone's encouraging stories, like reading about Peggy losing 8 lbs. and having to buy new pants sounds fun to me! So keep the stories and encouragement coming and I will also participate.
Good luck! Keep up the good work everyone and don't get discouraged. It is so worth it!

Bummer!

Ugh.. I had a HORRIBLE week.. I fell off the wagon on Thursday and it didn't get any better.. I ate out ALOT and it obviously shows with my 2 pound gain. I am getting a little discouraged.. I can always keep it up for a month and then I waiver and I guess my month is up so I started to waiver. I am NOT going to give up though.. I just have to try EXTRA hard this week to lose those 2 pounds I put on and then some.. I KNOW weight watchers works and I just need to get back in the swing of things.. it sucks to gain, but I just needed to vent.. so I am going to get back on the ball this week I know I can do it.. Good luck to everyone else this week!

Okay, I've been pretty silent for a while so I guess I should put in my 2 cents worth. I feel good about my progress so far- 8 pounds! I want to keep it going and make this a lifestyle habit. I can sure tell a difference in how I feel when I don't eat CRAP! I love eating clean and healthy. And I love the way it feels when my clothes feel looser. Dang it, I might have to go buy some smaller pants! Sorry I'm just talking about myself. You guys are doing awesome--those of you who are posting. You should be so proud of yourselves! Kristi and Mindy--what are you going to call this website when we are actually skinny? This is definitely not an easy thing to do but it will be so worth it. I promise I will post a recipe but I need to find a good one. Keep it up (or down) everyone!

Weigh-In #5

Wow! It feels great to lose some weight! Why didn't I do this like 5 years ago?? Oh yeah, it's hard, but it is WORTH IT!! I am so excited that I have been dropping 2 cupcakes every week (hopefully I don't jinx myself)! Right now I am just watching what and how much I eat. I haven't been doing much exercise, but I do hope to add that to my routine soon! I hope everything is going well with everyone! It would be fun to hear from you just to see how things are going for you, so feel free to post a comment or something. THANKS -Mindy

So I am new to blogging experience, and couldn't figure out how to add my loss. Which was 0 cupcakes. However I didn't gain any, so that is good. So if someone could add tahat for me, that would be fabulous. Thanks. My vote is that we keep going. I finally got my head in the game, don't quit on me now. I've done my shopping for the week, and am ready to play. These are some of the meals that we will be having:
Tonight: Spgetthetti (spelling?)
Barilla Protein enriched noodles Noodles 4 pts for 2 Oz
Ground Beef 1/2 cup 3 pts drained the fat
Sauce 0 pts Yum! I put lots of yummy chunky veggies to make it taste good and add flavor.
Italian Salad: Lettuce 0 pts, Red Onion 0 pts, Olives (10) 1 pt, fat free italian dressing 1 pt
Dessert: Fat Free Sugar free Pudding w/ Fat free Milk 2 Pts, Cool whip 1 pt 2 table spoons

A couple of fun suggestions: Oscar Meyer Center Cut bacon. It is only 1 point for TWO slices, and it tastes exactly like normal bacon! You'll be shocked. I eat it with an egg, 1 oz of lower fat cheese, and I have a yummy, very filling 5 point breakfast.
Another: If you go to walmart - where they have their cream cheese, you'll find some bagels. They are just a little smaller then normal sized bagels, and have 5 in a pack. They have to be refrigerated. Are you ready for this? They are 1 point for a WHOLE bagel! So then if you can even get the regular WHIPPED (Its less calories) cream cheese. You can have a full serving of cream cheese, 2 Tbs for 2 points. It tastes so great, you feel like your cheating, and yet your only eating a 3 point meal! :0 Add some berries or a kiwi, and its complete.

Well there are a couple of ideas for this week. I'll put more next week. Have a good one.

Sam

Hey Everyone...

Hey everyone.. we just need your input on the blog. It doesn't seem like anyone is really participating, so I dunno if it is benefitial or if we should keep it going anymore. We need feedback because we cant keep this going all by ourselves. So please give us your feedback to whether or not we should keep this going. Thanks everyone.

Tuesday, September 2, 2008

Hello everyone! My name is Samantha (Sam) and I am a friend of Mindy. Long ago in a land far away (actually just Sugar House) I worked with her husband. Then his brother Russell married my best friend, and now the rest is, as they say, history. I work for Stampin' Up! and am a S.ervice A.ccount M.anager. We call our selves SAMs. Funny huh! I'm Sam the SAM. I am married to Mike and we are coming up on our fourth anniversary in October. Wow! We don't have any children, but would like to have some someday (soon if possible). I served a mission in Alaska, where I actually lost 50lbs. That is the closest I have been in the last 10 years to the size I want to be. I have been on the weight loss merry-go-round for about 12 years. I am currently doing weight watchers at my work. I'll be honest, I'm not doing great. But I would like to be. That is why I'm joining this group. The more accountability I have, the better. My goal is to get rid of 90 cupcakes, however that is a big bite all at once. So for now I am working on getting rid of 20 cupcakes. I look forward to getting to know all of you and working with you on our goals!

Sam :)
P.S.
This is my "Skinny" picture. It was taken only a couple weeks after I came home from the mission. Its my goal to look like this again.

Cafe Rio Chicken Salad

Okay here is what I figured the Cafe Rio Chicken salad to be...
Black Beans (abt 1/2 cup)- 2 pts
Rice (abt 1/2 cup)- 2 pts
Lettuce- 0 pts
Chicken (abt 6 oz.)- 6 pts
Tortilla-4
Creamy dressing (1 Tbsp)-1 pt
Total: 15 pts
* I figured this without guac, and without the little chippys that they put on the top. Also its only with 1 Tbsp of dressing, if you use more than that obviously you need to double the points. I figured that out of the weight watchers foodlist book.. so it may not be EXACTLY right but it is pretty darn close.. and delicious! It's kinda a lot of points, but may be good for a splurge meal or something.. Keep up the goodwork everyone!

Keep Up the Good Work!!

Good Morning! I hope everyone is doing GREAT with eating! I have been super motivated the last few days, so I just wanted to share that with everyone! I hope you all do GREAT this week! Keep up the good work!! The meal idea was great! Hopefully everyone will post some more this week so we can all try new things! I am going to post the Cafe Rio Chicken salad.. I figured out the points.. so stay tuned I am going to do it after work! HAVE A GREAT DAY!

(I know Debbie is on a cruise right now) Well I don't even know if any of you are checking the blog or if it even helps to have one. I need some feed back! I feel like I'm the only one posting anything! I need some meal ideas too!

It's time for weigh-in again, it seems so soon! I hope everyone is doing well with weight watchers. We didn't hear from a few of you last week MEGAN, DEBBIE, and AMBER!!! We hope to hear from you this week to see how you are doing!

So the GOAL for this week is everyone to post a meal with the recipe and how many points it is!! (Something you have made before that tastes good) THANKS :)

Just a comment

Way to go Kristi! You lost 3 cupcakes. Keep it up! Okay, I know I posted a loss of 4 cupcakes and that is really what the scale said. But I think it had something to do with it being that time of the month- I always gain weight and then lose it that week. But I'm not complaining! I know it is important to lose weight slowly because it will stay off better. I'm sure this week it will be a different story. But I'm still motivated and excited to start feeling a change in my body.

Weigh-In

Hi Everyone! Sorry I've been at my cabin the past few days. It is time for our first weigh-in!! If you just joined (or like me, I just barely bought a scale last week) and don't know your weight for this week, then on the post just add: 0 gain/loss
Mindy (20 cupcakes): 0 gain/loss
Kristi (50 cupcakes): 3 cupcakes lost/47 to go
Amber (15 cupcakes):
Peggy (15 cupcakes): 4 cupcakes lost/11 to go
Debbie (20 cupcakes):
Megan (10 cupcakes):

**Please login and post how many cupcakes you gained or lost (hopefully lost!) Then add or subtract it from your goal. Thanks Skinny Cows!! The next weigh-in will be at the beginning of the week (Sunday or Monday).

Quote of the Minute :)

Okay.. I am going to put up a quote because I'm a little discouraged (I know it's only been a week :) Here it is...
"The woman who can drive herself further once the effort gets painful is the woman who will win."
I think that is great because it's not going to be easy.. it is going to be painful.. but if you can endure the pain.. you will win! Maybe that will be a little helpful! :)
Hello Everyone!...
Sorry it's taken me so long to do this.. I just can't find a picture of myself alone, so I settled on this one with my husband and I... Just ignore him :) Anyways.. My name is Kristi Perez. I have struggled with weight my WHOLE life! I have tried SO many different diets and ways to lose weight. I do well for a while and then it never seems to fail I ALWAYS fall off the wagon. It seems so easy for the first month or two and then I just give up. I really want to meet my goal. I think Weight Watchers is great because you can still eat what you want it just teaches you portion contol. I have tried Weight Watchers before and it lasted a couple months and I fell off.. so this time will be my charm, I know I can do it! I am 21 years old and feel like an 80 year old grandma! I just got married in January and I want to do this for myself and to help my self esteem so my husband doesn't get frustrated with me :) I want to be able to run around with my kids (someday when I have them, not anytime soon :) I think it is a great idea to have support and help from other people... A Wannabe Skinny Cow....

Hello all! My name is Megan Lyman.... i have never been really "overweight" but, i have struggled with my weight and where i feel comfortable at. I am a little on the short side so i feel that any weight that i do gain, even though others don't see it, i can tell and feel and see it... it's all a personal issue. What i have found though, is that the best thing we can do for ourselves is be at a weight where we are comfortable and feel good about ourselves. Most of the time it doesn't even matter necessarily about the WEIGHT as much as it is about the inches and how we FIT into our clothes. I have worked for Gold's Gym now for 2 and 1/2 years (as the executive assistant to the owners). You would be extremely surpried as to how many people who work for us, are actually overweight, or have some of the worst eating habits i have ever seen... but at the same time, i have become friends with a lot of the trainers and people who have taught me a lot of important things when it comes to exercises, food, and eating habits. If you ever have any questions that you need answered, i have a lot of resources here and would love to help in any way that i can... and if any of you need gym memberships let me know because i can help you get the best deal out there....I am excited to have a support group, and to also be a help in any way...

Hello my skinny cow friends

My name is Peggy Moss. I'm Mindy's mother. I'm 48 years young and have 4 children, ages 15 to 25. I've been feeling very chubby this whole summer, actually for the past couple of years or so. As you get older your metabolism slows down and you gain your weight in your mid section. It sucks! I've lost weight on Weight Watchers before so I'm doing it again. I love WW because it makes you accountable for everything you put in your mouth but gives you freedom to work in some treats if you are craving something sweet. I'm pretty health minded so I want to use most, if not all of my points on healthy food- not on treats that sometime make me crave more! I also like to exercise and I love that you can earn more food points by exercising!! I'm really looking foward to start feeling my pants getting looser etc. Good luck everyone!

New Member... Introduction

Hi! My name is Mindy Sorenson. For as long as I can remember I've never been happy with my weight. I have tried Weight Watchers once before but had a hard time sticking with it because of the whole keeping track of points thing. I am hoping with this blog and the help from everyone out there that I will be able to meet my goal. My goal is to lose 20cupcakes:) Just a little about myself... I am 23, I married my wonderful husband, Remington on March 31, 2005 in the Salt Lake Temple. We live in Sandy and I am a hair stylist at Capelli Hair in Holladay. I love to SCRAPBOOK! I've always got some kind of project going, I love making crafts. If I wasn't a hair stylist, I would go into interior decorating, I think that would be so fun! I hate grocery shopping, I don't mind cooking(but don't have the time), but I LOVE food! Some of my favorites are... Rumbi's Calypso Spinich Salad, homemade bread and rolls, snowcones in the summertime, and fresh fruit!! I am excited for this blog and I hope that it can help us all meet our goals!

Weigh-IN!!

We are going to do weigh in a little bit different so that we don't have to share our weight with eachother:) You will first choose your goal... how many pounds do you want to lose? For example: I want to lose 20 pounds. Instead of saying pounds, we are going to say: I want to lose 20 cupcakes! Then on each weigh-in I will post every members name with their goal and then each person will have to log on individually and add how many cupcakes they lost or gained and then add or subtract from the total. For example: Week One... Mindy (20 cupcakes): gained 1 cupcake...21 to go, Kristi (50 cupcakes): lost 2 cupcakes...48 to go and so forth. We will do this each week at the beginning of the week. So keep an eye out for the Weigh-in post so you can add your results. This will help us to be true to ourselves when we have other people keeping an eye on us and encouraging us to keep on keeping on:)

The beginning of Weight Watchers...

It is time to stop dieting and to START LIVING! Have you ever felt like you have tried so many diets and work out plans and nothing sticks?? We have!! Weight Watchers is a way to live! We like the idea of weight watchers because you can still eat the foods you love, you just have cut back and watch what you eat! We have started this blog to begin Weight Watchers and to support each other all the way through! Our goal is to share inspirational thoughts, new recipe ideas, and anything that will help us to keep moving forward!
